English - Conversation

1) Why is communication important?
It helps us inform each other of important things.

2) What is/are your favourite form/s of communication? Why?
Tele-communication. If I do not dare to tell someone something face-to-face, i can use tele-communication to tell that person.

3) How do you decide which form of communication to use in a situation?
It depends. If I urgently need to pass a message to someone, I will call that person. If I cannot reach that person on the phone, I will leave a message.

4) What difficulties do you face in communicating with others?

Trying to communicate with people who are deaf/mute, I do not know what to do as I do not know sign languages. Another difficulty that I face is that we might not hear the message clearly and pass on the wrong message.

Orientation Camp Reflections (7-8 Jan 2010)

What are the three main points (or more) that you had learnt from all the activities?
(1) I learnt that with teamwork and cooperation, we can accomplish more things.
(2) I learnt that in order to achieve our goals, we must communicate with each other in the team.
(3) I learnt that we must not keep on thinking and saying that we can't do things and stay positive.

How can this pointers be of help to you?
They remind me of the importance of being in a team.

If you were to have another chance to try the activities, which one will you chose? Why?
The zip-line activity. I didn't do it for some personal reasons which I think is not a good reason to not do the activity....

If there is one thing that you would like to change about yourself, what would it be?
I would like to be more attentive and pay more attention to the instructors, teachers, leaders and even my friends.

Blogging...

I think that it is not very difficult to create a blog but the most difficult thing to is to think of the URL. The rest is not very hard to do...
Blogging allows me to share my experience with others and i can also read the experiences of sst students. And when i am bored, i can read what i had typed on my own blog as well as my schoolmates. If i get stuck at a problem, i can read up on my past experience to help me.

When I Realised that i got accepted into sst.....

I dont have a picture to share about. So, i am going to just type out my feelings. When i found out that i got accepted into sst, i was very excited. but at that time, i was also very tired....so i didn't really did anything to express my feelings. I have nothing much to say so that's all.......

Bridge-Building Activity-Debrief(II)Personal Reflection

  • Q : How do you feel about working in a team on the bridge-building project?
  • A : I feel that it is much easier than building the bridge by myself.
  • Q : What do you think about your interactions with the members in your team?
  • A : I think that we are getting closer as friends.
  • Q : What have you learnt about yourself in the course of the activity and what will you do differently in future team activities?
  • A : I learnt that I don't usually help much when doing the activity. I will do as much work as all of my friends or even do more.
  • Q : Did you experience any fear, discomfort, or apprehension working with this team? Why?
  • A : Yes. I was afraid that we would not be able to finish the bridge in time as we were playing a bit when we were building the bridge.
  • Q : How did you overcome it?
  • A : After a while, we started to get really serious in doing the project and I knew that we could finish it in time.
