Character Education - Pay Attention [reflection]

Paying attention to big things that happen is easy. What are some of the small things you are missing out??

Some of the small things I'm missing out are :

- knowing more about my family and friends

- knowing how to make others feel happier all the time

How does technology distract you from paying attention??

Sometimes I would get tempted to play games and do not concentrate on my homework. I may also neglect my family and friends.

Spend some time in silence and pay attention to your inner life. What is bubbling to the surface??

My family, friends, God and how to make them happy. :D

I think I did not do very well for this assessment. I need to lean forward towards leading leg and straighten my leading leg more.

Character Education [Lead Yourself - Personal Management]

Some people are good at starting things, others at finishing things. Which one are you? Why?

I am better at finishing things as compared to starting things. I need a guild or example before I can start anything. I usually need someone to start for me before I understand what to do.

What kinds of things do you need to do each day in order to feel like your day is a success?

I need to accomplish everything that I plan to do and everything that I need to do in order to feel like my day is a success.

Lead Yourself First [Character Education]

What does a person of good character look like?

He/She will be confident and does not give up easily.

How does one measure up to the description of a good character?

- makes the right decisions

- has integrity

- disciplined

- confident

How would others say about the character of you as an individual?

They would say that I'm cheerful, funny and crazy.

In which area and how would you like to grow and develop in your character?

I would like to be more patient and honest.

English - Conversation

1) Why is communication important?
It helps us inform each other of important things.

2) What is/are your favourite form/s of communication? Why?
Tele-communication. If I do not dare to tell someone something face-to-face, i can use tele-communication to tell that person.

3) How do you decide which form of communication to use in a situation?
It depends. If I urgently need to pass a message to someone, I will call that person. If I cannot reach that person on the phone, I will leave a message.

4) What difficulties do you face in communicating with others?

Trying to communicate with people who are deaf/mute, I do not know what to do as I do not know sign languages. Another difficulty that I face is that we might not hear the message clearly and pass on the wrong message.

Orientation Camp Reflections (7-8 Jan 2010)

What are the three main points (or more) that you had learnt from all the activities?

(1) I learnt that with teamwork and cooperation, we can accomplish more things.

(2) I learnt that in order to achieve our goals, we must communicate with each other in the team.

(3) I learnt that we must not keep on thinking and saying that we can't do things and stay positive.

How can this pointers be of help to you?

They remind me of the importance of being in a team.

If you were to have another chance to try the activities, which one will you chose? Why?

The zip-line activity. I didn't do it for some personal reasons which I think is not a good reason to not do the activity....

If there is one thing that you would like to change about yourself, what would it be?

I would like to be more attentive and pay more attention to the instructors, teachers, leaders and even my friends.

Q : What do you understand about the school value "Expanding Our Learning Networks"?

A : I understand that we must not limit our learning networks to our school mates but we must expand it to everyone else like the people in clementi neighbourhood.
Q : Why is this value important and how will it help you in your learning experience in SST?

A : We would not be concentrating only on school work but we must get connected to the rest of the world as well. It will help us know more people and let others recognise us.
